My family migrated to the US in Vietnam. Later, a lot of my friends are international students. I understand the struggles that my family and friends experience with the language barriers, and culture shock when they accustom to a new culture. Hence, I have the vision to create a bridge between sojourners and the local community.
In 2020, the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic has seen an escalation of racial discrimination against non-citizens and people of color in many places around the world. Since then, I had an inspiration to create a platform that would promote hospitality toward non-citizens and bring employment to the local community.
According to CNBC, in 2020, about 3% of startup founders are people of color, and about 28% of founders are women while women make up half of the US population. My vision for Hospitalities.net is not only a platform that connects sojourners with local resources and brings employment to the local community but also helps increase the statistic of women of color becoming successful startup founders.
A successful founder doesn’t start a company, but a social movement.
